Marans are best known for their large, russet brown eggs. This is a defining characteristic of the Marans breed. Marans are a medium-sized bird with lightly feathered legs and are a hardy, disease-resistant breed that likes to free range and and can cope with damper conditions.
There are 3 recognized colors in the APA-American Poultry Association Standard: Black Copper, Wheaten and White.
We breed Black Copper and White varieties with many Champion Continental wins. Black Copper Marans were our original breed that we started TwoBitts Farm with in 2012. In 2018 we hope to introduce Black to our breeding program.
